PMAGY implementation: Govt constitutes committees

JAMMU, Feb 5: The J&K Government here today constituted five vital committees for the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAGY) scheme in the State.
These Committees include State Advisory Committee, State Steering cum Monitoring Committee, State PMAGY Convergence Committee, District PMAGY Convergence Committee and Village PMAGY Convergence Committee.
The State Advisory Committee headed by Advisor (G) to the Governor as the Chairman of the Committee and there will also be a Co-chairperson, Advisor (K) to the Governor.
Apart from this, the Committee has 13 more members.
Apart from performing other functions, this Committee will meet at least twice a year and will monitor the implementation of the PMAGY scheme.
It will also issue supplementary implementation guidelines from time to time apart from providing overall guidance.
The State Steering-cum-Monitoring Committee will have the Chief Secretary as its Chairperson and it will comprise of 15 more members.
This Committee will also meet not less than twice a year and will identify bottlenecks and propose remedial measures.
Next is State PMAGY Convergence Committee with Administrative Secretary, Social Welfare Department as it’s Chairman and there will be 16 more members of this Committee.
Director (Planning) Social Welfare Department shall be the nodal officer of this Committee at State level to coordinate Centre and State Governments and district administration where schemes are being implemented. District PMAGY Convergence Committee will have District Development Commissioner (Programme District Director level) as its Chairperson and 11 other members.
This Committee will review the progress of the scheme of regular basis and will also verify the approved component of the scheme in consultation with PRIs.
It will also monitor the utilization of funds and ensure there is no overlapping of works in the area and will furnish annual action plan.
The last one is Village PMAGY Convergence Committee with Sarpanch of the village as its Chairman with a position of Programme Director at Ward Level. This Committee will have seven more members and it will review the progress of PMAGY scheme on weekly basis.
It will also assist district PMAGY Convergence Committee in implementation of the Scheme and will identify the areas for inclusion under the scheme.
It will also implement and monitor the scheme in the village.
