JAMMU, Feb 5: The Jammu and Kashmir State team blossomed in the National Masters Athletics Championship held at Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur in Rajasthan.
Jammu and Kashmir won big haul of 22 medals, with 12 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze.
Haji Abdul Qayoom, President J&K Masters Athletics Association lauded the efforts of the team members including support staff for this achievement.
In 35+, Mangat Singh claimed gold in 10,000 mtrs and silver in 5000 mtrs; in 40+, Sharat Chander Singh bagged silver in 100 mtrs sprint; Reyaz Ahmed clinched gold in 10000 mtrs and bronze in 1500 mtrs; in 45+, Seema Kharyal won bronze in 400 mtrs Hurdles; in 50+, Pawan Sharma claimed gold in 10000 mtrs, silver in 1500 mtrs and bronze in 200 mtrs; in 60+,
Sudesh Basotra won gold in 5000 mtrs Walk and silver in5000; Kanta Bhutyal bagged gold in 800 mtrs, gold in 400 mtrs and gold in 200 mtrs; Rampaul Kapoor bagged silver in 5000 mtrs, slver in 1500 mtrs and gold in 800 mtrs; in 65+, Tarsem Basotra won gold in 5000 mtrs
Walk; in 70+, Brij Mohan Sharma claimed bronze in 400 mtrs; in 85+, Devi Dayal Sharma won gold in Shot Put, gold in Discus Throw and gold in Hammer Throw. Tarsem Basotra and Sudesh Basotra accompanied the team as Managers, while Sharat Chander Singh, NIS qualified Athletics Coach was the Chief Coach.
