JAMMU, Apr 22: Joint Action Committee (JAC) of SC/ST/OBCs today said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi must direct LG administration to implement all constitutional guarantees meant for SC/ST/OBCs in J&K as promised by him while abrogating Article 370.
Addressing a joint press conference, the JAC members said that the PM should also announce ‘restoration of reservation in promotions’ for SC/STs on his visit to Jammu on April 24. They criticized the J&K Administration for adopting delay tactics in restoration of reservation in promotion despite clear instruction by the top court and simultaneously an Ordinance issued by the President of India.
They said that if the BJP under PM wants to once again take votes of these communities in forthcoming elections, he must announce ‘restoration of reservation’ in promotions for SC/STs in J&K as the same has legal and constitutional backing. While severely criticizing the Government and its functionaries for befooling SC/ST/OBCs of J&K, they said that this is right occasion for the PM to prove his slogan of “Dhara 370 Kaa Khatama Jammu Kashmir Maine Ek Naya Itihas Likhyega”.
Prof G L Thapa said that the bureaucracy after sabotaging the matter of reservation in promotions has started targeting reservation in direct recruitments as well by directing various departments to maintain the reservation roster register afresh from 2022 onwards. He said that they will agitate on roads if this exercise is not stopped forthwith.
Mohinder Bhagat, while further elaborating said that there is a strong anti SCSTOBCs nexuses of Bureaucracy-Politicians running the government who are help bent upon causing atrocities on SCSTOBCs.
Sham Bassan said that it looks if abrogation of Article 370 has opened a new struggling face for SC/ST/OBCs in J&K wherein they have to face anti reserved categories bureaucracy who is hell bent upon sabotaging all the constitutional guarantees meant for these communities.
