PM Modi’s special interest in NE region is to strengthen RSS base among Christian majority

SHILLONG, Feb 25:

Leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad today said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s special interest in North Eastern Region is aimed towards strengthening Rashtriya Swayamseak Sangh (RSS) base in the Christian dominated area.
Addressing a public rally here in poll bound Meghalaya, Mr Azad said ” BJP is following same strategy in both Kashmir and North Eastern region. They want to implement one idea of Hindutva.
Look at the situation in Kashmir same thing will happen here in North East in coming times if same policy continues,” Mr Azad said adding that Congress has always been in the forefront of preserving the unique tribal identity of the North Eastern states.
Coming down heavily on the NDA Government, Mr Azad said that BJP is anti-Christian and with its mentor RSS now the party is trying to control the Christian dominated states in the region.
Mr Azad was specifically critical of NDA Government questioning its secular credentials. “In Uttar Pradesh fridge in Muslim households were checked whether it had meat of different type which they don’t like same thing is going to happen here if they somehow manage to come into power,” Mr Azad said.
Mr Azad was addressing crowd in Rilbong which is a part of 19 th South Shillong Constituency -one of the five general seats in Meghalaya where a direct contest between BJP and Congress is taking place.
Delving on the issues related to the region, Mr Azad said special provision of special state was taken after NDA came to power. (UNI)
