PM lauds Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev’s support for Citizenship Act

NEW DELHI: Amid continuing protests across the country against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday lauded the support expressed by Sadguru Jaggi Vasudev for the amended Act.
Taking to Twitter, the PM posted a video of a recent talk by the spiritual leader in which he explained the necessity for Citizens Amendment Act and described the passing of the amendment as “too little compassion coming too late”.
”Do hear this lucid explanation of aspects relating to CAA and more by @SadhguruJV. He provides historical context, brilliantly highlights our culture of brotherhood. He also calls out the misinformation by vested interest groups,” the PM tweeted.
He said even today any foreigner, be he or she of any religion, can get Indian citizenship through usual procedures.
Taking exception to the arson that is going on in the country in the name of the Act, Sadguru said he was surprised to see college students who are supposed to have read the act behaving like illiterate people indulging in violence.
He, however, said the Centre had failed to communicate the real content of the act or its purpose to the people whereas certain people were misleading masses saying that Muslims would lose citizenship.
Sadhguru also added that NRC is a normal procedure in all nations and it means every citizen in the country should be registered. This is a necessity for any nation. (AGENCIES)
