NEW DELHI, May 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has been maintaining a regular contact with Chief Ministers and administration of drought affected States, today held tenth successive high level meeting to assess the situation of drought and water scarcity in Andhra Pradesh. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu along with senior officers of the State attended the meeting.

Additional Principal Secretary to PM, P.K. Mishra, Cabinet Secretary P.K. Sinha and NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant were among the senior officers representing Government of India.
Pertinent to mention that Modi undertook a unique initiative, perhaps the first of its kind, to hold separate exclusive meetings with each of the State Governments affected by drought instead of holding a common meeting with all, as is usually the practice. As a part of this exercise, over the last one week, he has chaired separate meetings with the Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh respectively. The meeting with the Andhra Pradesh State Government today was the tenth in a row.
Prime Minister called for a mass movement in water conservation and suggested involvement of youth organizations in planning structure for water storage and water management. He also stressed the importance of waste water management and rooftop rain water harvesting.
In the meeting that lasted for over one hour, while the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister gave a resume of the new technologies applied by his government to overcome water scarcity, Prime Minister Narendra Modi came out with several original and scientific ideas to boost water management and soil health in the years to come. He also stressed the importance of having a common technical module for the whole country to meet with such situations.
Prime Minister offered some valuable clues from his experience and also suggested means of providing easy and convenient technology to farmers besides extracting optimum utility from the recently launched Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.
