PM calls for making new India in light of Constitution

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday called upon the people of the country to work together for making of a new India in the light of the aims and objectives and values given by the Constitution.
The Prime Minister, in his monthly ‘Mann ki Baat’ radio programme, recalled the contribution of the makers of the Indian Constitution, especially Dr BR Ambedkar, on the occasion of the Constitution Day as it was on this day in 1949 that the Constitution was adopted.
Mr Modi also underlined the contribution of Dr Vallabhbhai Patel in the unification of the country.
As today is also the day when the Mumbai terror attack took place, he expressed concern over the growing tentacles of terrorism, and called upon the the global community to come together to face the menace.
Paying tribute to the martyrs of 26/11, Mr Modi said that in the past when India talked of the menace of terror, the world did not pay much heed to it, but today every nation was realising the truth of what India had been warning them about.
The Prime Minister also spoke about the contribution of the Indian navy not only in times of war but also of peace, and called for creating an atmosphere of respect and gratitude towards the armed forces of the country.
He touched upon various issues like climate change, organic farming, conservation of soil and the need to encourage children, who he said had impressed him by their level of understanding and wisdom. (AGENCIES)
