NEW DELHI : Admitting that the country’s economy has been passing through a difficult situation where the rupee value has been falling, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said there were domestic and international factors as well to be blamed for such a phase in the economy.
Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, the Prime Minister said he would make a detailed statement in the House tomorrow.
“It cannot be denied that the country is facing a difficult economic situation. There are several causes behind this. There are some domestic factors and there are also some international factors,” Dr Singh said, after Leader of the Opposition Arun Jaitley raised the matter of the economic situation and falling rupee value in the Question Hour.
The Prime Minister said the crisis in Syria, which has been facing a military strike by the US and allies over alleged use of chemical weapons, was also responsible for increasing oil prices in the international market.
