PM to address SKUAST Jammu Convocation on May 19

JAMMU, May 15:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address sixth Convocation of the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) in Jammu on May 19.
Sharing this information with the media persons, here today, the SKUAST-Jammu  Vice Chancellor Prof  Pradeep Kumar Sharma disclosed  that the Prime Minister has accepted the request to be chief guest for the Convocation function, which will also be attended by Governor N N Vohra and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who are Chancellor  and Pro-Chancellor, respectively  of the university.
During the Convocation, 444 degrees shall be awarded to 215 Graduates, 174 Post Graduates and 55 Ph D pass-outs.  Besides this, six Gold Medals to toppers in Under-Graduate Programmes and 100 merit certificates to PG and Ph D pass-outs will also be awarded on the occasion.
SKUAST- Jammu has three faculties, including Faculty of Agriculture (16 disciplines), Faculty of Basic Science (04 disciplines) and Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry (16 disciplines).
“The Convocation will start at 3.15 pm in newly constructed Baba Jitto Auditorium of the SKUAST-Jammu at Chatha,” said the Vice-Chancellor and added that this is for the first time that the convocation functioning is being held at SKUAST-campus.
Reminding that SKUAST-Jammu was ranked 10th among all the State Agricultural  Universities in the country during 2017-18, the Vice-chancellor hoped that the Prime Minister’s visit would have a long lasting influence on students as well as the university.
SKUAST-J Registrar, Prof Dileep Kachroo, who accompanied the VC during the press conference, elaborated that 215 degrees shall be awarded to 84 Graduates of   Agriculture, 91 of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry and 40 of Biotechnology. 174 PG degrees shall be awarded to 67 Pass-outs of Agriculture, nine of Biotechnology, 12 of Basic Science, 9 of MBA in Agri-Business Management and 77 of Veterinary Sciences.
Others, who were present in the press conference, included Dr Amrish Vaid, Dr Vikas Tandon, Dr P K Rai, Dr Rakesh, Dr Punit, Dr Vishal,  Dr Veena and Dr Vivak Mohan Arya.
