Day 2 of Moungri Mela: Cultural programmes mesmerize devotees

UDHAMPUR, May 15: On second day of three- day annual Shiv -Parvati Moungri Mela, thousands of visitors and devotes from within and outside the district thronged the Mela site and paid their obeisance to Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva.
To entertain the pilgrim-visitors and further strengthen the warm ties of mutual love and understanding amongst different sections of the society, a scintillating cultural programme was also presented by the J&K Academy of Art, Cultural and Languages and renowned local artists of the area.

On the occasion, the Department of Youth Services & Sports in collaboration with Education Department Udhampur,   also organized rural sports activities.
The district administration has made adequate arrangements of water, electricity, healthcare, security, transport etc  for the successful conduct of the mela. Awareness stalls were also put up by many departments on the occasion.
Number of temporary sweet shops, toy shops and other eatable corners by the locals as well as outside vendors were the main attraction for the general public visiting the Mela site.
During the Mela, strict checking of rates and quality of eatables is being maintained  by team of officers. J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association is also organizing a wrestling match at Sar Dabber tomorrow where wrestlers of name and fame from the State and outside are participating.
Among others, Tehsildar Moungri,  Amit Kumar Verma, Block Development Officer, Moungri Suman Katal, Zonal Physical Education Officer, Pawan Sharma and other officials of different departments besides teachers, students and local Mela Committee members   were present on the occasion.
