JAMMU, Aug 13: Punjabi Lekhak Sabha (PLS), Jammu organized a literary meet at Tagore Academy, Rani Talab, Digiana, here today.
Rajinder Singh, retired ZEO presided over the meet. Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik, president, PLS welcomed all the guests and writers and emphasized on the future activities of Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Jammu.
A session of poetry recitation with the recitation of poetry by Dr Baljeet Singh Raina, Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik, Pritam Singh Anjaan, Amar Singh Kuka, Piara Singh Dhanjal, Balwinderdeep Singh, Harjit Singh Uppal, was conducted in the meeting. The poetry was aimed at raising issues of social awareness, values and satire on the prevailing conditions and the political system.
An essay by Pritam Singh on the changing scenario of rural life was also read out by him. A discussion on the implementation of Punjabi as compulsory language at high school level was also held.
