Sir,
The people who migrated from other parts of J&K forcibly occupied by Pakistan in the year 1947 consequent upon the division of India are the refugees in real sense. These refugees belong to Mirpur, Kotli, Muzaffarabad and Bhimber and had reached Jammu after leaving all their movable and immovable properties besides thousands of people were brutally murdered by Pakistani forces during migration.
It is now more than 67 years that neither any claim of property left out in POK in 1947 by the refugees have been registered by the Government nor any steps taken for their permanent settlement. Only a meagre amount of Rs 3500/- which was sanctioned as ex-gratia relief per family that too was adjusted against the cost of small quarters allotted to the migrant families and nothing else.
These refugees are still living in a miserable condition and the Government is requested to take following immediate remedial measures to settle the problems of the POK refugees of 1947 on permanent basis :
* Register the claims immediatley and pay compensation for the properties left out in the occupied area of POK.
* Grant employment package for educated youth of the refugee families by providing reservations in the State and Central services.
* Free education and reservation of seats in Technical educational institutions
* Providing all other privileges for which the refugees are entitled.
It is therefore requested that the Government should constitute a high level committee to look into the issues and make suitable recommendations to the Government for the effective implementation of these recommendations to settle the problems of these neglected refugees once for all.
Yours etc….
