Plea to MCJ

Sir,
The new Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation of Jammu, recently made a citizen  friendly statement, loaded with promise, that sanitation of the city would be his top priority. But one wonders if the statement was just for public consumtpion, as nothing seems to be happening on the ground. The condition of sanitation has remained as deplorable as before. The approach of the Karamcharies in respect of cleanliness drive is, as usual, differential They pass on their responsibilities from one to the other. Their devil- may-care attitude is disgusting. To quote an example of their half hearted approach and the proverbial lack of will “I stout, thou stout, who will take the dirt out ?” The lanes of Sect-1 and Sect -2 of  Pamposh Colony, Janipur are full of dumped heaps of domestic waste and huge  mounds of a mix of sand and slush taken out by a group of Karamcharies. But no body takes the responsibility of lifting these  dirty heaps which have been lying on the roadside. The entire Jammu is a victim of neglect Besides, the roads and lanes and bylanes are dangerously strewen with small and big stones and earth. All attempts to make Jammu  city a model of cleanliness and beauty have gone haywire.
The authoriites will do well to take remedial measures to bring the city back to its glory before it earns the distinction of  being called infamously the ‘city of ugliness’.
Yours etc…
M L Raina
