Play ‘Urubhangam’ staged at SMVDU

JAMMU, Nov 5: Natraj Natya Kunj Cultural Society today staged the play ‘Urubhangam’ at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) Katra.
The play is Dogri adaptation of Mahakavi Bhasa’s Sanskrit play translated in Dogri by Kumar A ‘Bharti’.
The play was designed and directed by Abhishek Bharti and Aaditya Bharti and was prepared in month long Actors Training Workshop supported by Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi.
K.S Risam, Vice Chancellor, Sher-E-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion and Padma Shri R.K Sinha, Vice Chancellor SMVDU Katra, Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Joint Registrar SKUAST were the other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
Written in 2nd-3rd century, Urubhangam is based on Mahabharata and focuses on the story of Duryodhana during and his fight with Bhima.
The artists who acted in the play were Akshay Razdan, Amandeep Sharma, Lalit Sharma, Mukesh Bakshi, Kanav Sharma, Tejan Bharti, Akash Sharma, Karan Mehra, Niharika Sakshi, Hema Shivgotra, Priya Sharma and Anshika Sharma.
