MOSCOW, Aug 25: A plane carrying 146 Russian servicemen released from captivity in Ukraine landed at an airport near Moscow on Sunday, a Sputnik correspondent reported.
Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry said that 146 Russian servicemen and eight civilians kidnapped by Ukrainian troops from the Kursk border region had been brought back from Ukraine in a swap mediated by the United Arab Emirates.
The former prisoners of war were first taken to Belarus, where they received psychological and medical assistance. In Russia, they will undergo treatment and rehabilitation in medical institutions run by the Russian Defense Ministry.
