JAMMU, Apr 29: Panun Kashmir (PK) while strongly reiterating its demand for granting Statehood to the Jammu region, and separate homeland within Kashmir Valley for Hindus of Kashmir said this is the only alternative to ensure political empowerment, administrative autonomy and justice for its long-suppressed people.
This was stated by PK organising secretary B L Koul and general secretary, Kuldeep Raina while addressing corner meetings held in connection with May 11 rally to intensify its struggle for carving out a separate homeland on East and North of river Jehlum with UT status and amplify the community’s long standing demand for enactment of a genocide Prevention and Punishment law.
Addressing the meeting both Koul and Raina said that separate homeland for Kashmiri Pandits within Valley remains a non-negotiable national imperative. This Homeland, as envisaged in the historic Margdarshan Resolution of 1991, is the only viable framework for the return, rehabilitation, and reintegration of the Kashmiri Hindu community in accordance with the principles of dignity, security, and full citizenship, they added.
At the heart of the rally is the urgent and unapologetic demand for the complete reorganization of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, they said.
They said 35 years after the brutal campaign of killings, expulsions, and cultural erasure began, India still awaits a legal and political acknowledgement of the crime of genocide. PK asserts that justice cannot be selective and that the Indian Republic must rise to the occasion by legislating a law that recognises the genocide of Hindus in Kashmir, ensures accountability for the perpetrators, and prevents future recurrences.
Coming at a time of heightened cross-border tensions and hostile manoeuvres from across the Western Front, the rally will be an emphatic declaration of solidarity with the Indian armed forces. Panun Kashmir stands shoulder to shoulder with the soldiers, paramilitary forces, and police personnel who have laid down their lives to defend the sovereignty and unity of India, they said.
They said their sacrifice is not just the bulwark of national security but the moral foundation of any political future in Kashmir. “At a time when the nation faces persistent challenges to its territorial and internal security, our faith in our armed forces is complete. They are our pride and our protectors, and we stand resolutely with them,” the PK leaders said.
