PK holds intellectuals’ meet

JAMMU, Sept 20: Panun Kashmir held an intellectuals’ meet here, today to discuss the prevailing political scenario in the State and the role of the organization.
The PK convener, Dr Agnishekhar briefed the organization about the various political developments in the State and recent visit of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and said the only reason of PK activists to meet the Home Minister was to register their protest for not granting sufficient time to the organization in discussing the problem of displaced Pandits who are the main victims of terrorism and were leading an exiled life for last 28 years outside the Kashmir valley, their homeland.
He said PK also conveyed its dismay and subsequently sought an exclusive audience with the Home Minister in near future at New Delhi and the Minister took note of it.
He strongly condemned the incident of August 14 at Press Club and stated that Kashmiri Pandits and Dogras of Jammu are fighting a common war against the separatists and anti national elements and no body will be allowed to create any wedge between the two communities.
Dr Agnishekhar said Pandits have always remained shoulder to shoulder with Jammu people in their every struggle and people of Jammu have always supported and protected the cause of Kashmiri Hindus not only from 1989 before that also.
He cautioned the members of both communities to remain vigilant against those forces who want to create a wedge between the two communities. PK passed a resolution in which community was asked to remain vigilant against the people who are creating confusion among them.
Addressing the meeting Kiran Wattal former Commissioner JMC and socio political activist said that PK led by Dr Agnishekhar and Dr Ajay Chrungoo have always projected the cause of exiled community at various foras. He highlighted their role right from 1989 after mass exodus took place.
Dr Ajay Chrungoo president PK apprised the audience of the prevailing socio political situation in the State especially in relation to exiled community and also apprised them of the basic measures adopted by it aftermath of September 14 incident. He complimented the media fraternity by highlighting the cause of the community.
The meeting was also addressed by P L Koul Budgami a trade unionist also spoke on the occasion.
