JAMMU, Aug 29: Demanding a special investigation by a judicial team headed by a Supreme Court Judge to probe the numerous incidents of communal harassment of Kashmiri Hindus living in Valley, Panun Kashmir (PK) today said that such an investigation has become imperative necessity in the light of the criminal silence by the authorities and the political class in the State as well as in the Union Capital on the plight of displaced Pandits.
Such an investigation should also look into the causes of distress amongst the internally displaced Kashmiri Hindus living in Jagti camp in Jammu, PK chairman, Dr Ajay Chrungoo told reporters here today.
Dr Chrungoo said the long after the communal incidents in Kishtwar the transition camp at Haal, Pulwama, where Kashmiri Hindu employees have been housed by the State Government, was subjected to intense stone pelting by communal elements. The authorities have tried to under play the incidents as they did in case of another intense harassment of Kashmiri Hindus living in a temple premises in Srinagar city.
If the reports percolating to this place are true that the authorities were extremely reluctant to come to their help and had suggested them to approach the separatist leaders including the patriarch of the Islamic radicalization in Kashmir Valley, then the gravity of situation assumes serious dimensions, he said.
Dr Chrungoo said the desecration and damage of temple in Handwara almost around the same time speaks about the new zeal with which communal forces have been working in the Valley.
He said the frequent discontinuation of power and water supply in Jagti camp, delay in the distribution of relief and ration, is not the result of mere apathy or the breakdown of the Government machinery looking after the camps. But it seemed to be the part of theme communal attrition to which Kashmiri Hindus are being subjected to in the entire State, he added.
PK has appealed to Government of India to immediately transfer the Kashmiri Hindu employees to Jammu and take appropriate measures to correct the situation in Jagti camp.
Others present in the press conference included Dr M K Teng chairman Political Advisory PK and Kuldeep Raina its general secretary.
