JAMMU, Dec 11: Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice M M Kumar and Justice Hasnain Massodi today dismissed the Public Interest Litigations (PILs) filed by SOS International through its Chairman Rajiv Chuni and Rattan Singh Gill seeking probe into cross-voting in the elections to six seats of the MLC held on April 13, 2011. The DB also imposed costs of Rs 10,000 each on the petitioners.
After hearing Advocate SS Ahmed appearing for PIL filed by SOS International and Advocate Aditya Gupta appearing for another petition filed by Rattan Singh Gill, Division Bench observed in the open Court, “instant petitions lack public interest as there is no prima-facie evidence which may invite some action in the matter”.
Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi with Advocate Parimoksh Seth, Advocate Javed Iqbal with Advocate Harsvardhan and Senior AAG Gagan Basotra appeared for the BJP MLAs and State.
