KATRA, July 21: A Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrim from Gujarat ended his life by jumping into deep gorge from the new track near Sanjhi Chhat, here today.
The deceased was identified as Anil Kumar, son of Nanu, resident of Udna Road, No 3, Sanjay Nagar, Zero number tehsil, Surat. He reportedly jumped into deep gorge while moving on new track near Sanjhi Chhat and apparently died on the spot .
Some other pilgrims saw him jumping into the gorge and brought the matter into the notice of Police. After hectic efforts, a Police party managed to reach near the body in gorge and shifted it to Bhawan Dispensary where the doctors declared the pilgrim as brought dead.
Cause of committing suicide could not be ascertained while the Bhawan Police has registered a case in this connection for further investigation.
