DODA, June 17: The Press Information Bureau (PIB), Jammu, today held a rural media workshop called “Vartalap” in District Doda.
A press statement said that the workshop aimed at establishing a direct connection between the Government and journalists working at the district and sub-district levels in Jammu division.
The event was graced by Vishesh Paul Mahajan, Deputy Commissioner of Doda, who emphasized the crucial role of media as the fourth pillar of democracy. He stressed the importance of maintaining balance and impartiality in journalism, urging journalists to responsibly report on the developments taking place in the district.
Ab Qayoom, the SSP Doda, highlighted the role of media in promoting transparency and accountability within the system. He recognized the media as the torchbearer of society, capable of bringing both positive and negative aspects to the public’s attention.
In his address, Ghulam Abbas, the Joint Director of PIB, CBC J&K, Ladakh Region, commended the path breaking reforms and remarkable infrastructural development accomplished during the nine years under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi. He emphasized the significant role of development journalism in informing people about various government schemes, policies, and programs.
Representatives from various sectors also shared their insights during the workshop. Mohamad Ashraf, the District Information Officer, shed light on the developments in Doda across various sectors. Idrees Lone, General Manager of DIC Doda, discussed the industrial sector reforms implemented in both Doda and across India.
The technical sessions were followed by interactive question-and-answer sessions, enabling journalists to engage with the experts and clarify their doubts regarding various schemes and programs.
The journalists expressed gratitude to PIB for organizing the workshop and expressed their hope for more such workshops in the future.
