JAMMU, June 17: All Party Action Committee Migrant Camps (APACMC) Jammu today said that the Government instead of taking concrete steps for permanent rehabilitation of displaced Pandits in Valley has been adding to their woes by charging electricity fee to migrants putting up in various camps at Jammu.
Talking to reporters here today the representatives of the Committee led by H N Raina its chairman said that the Kashmiri Pandits are leading an exiled life for over last 33 years and instead of settling them permanently in Valley the Government is day in and day out adding to their woes.
They said that after losing their land and other property due to turmoil and militants onslaught after the failure of the successive governments to ensure safety and security to this miniscule minority in Valley they were forced to be dependent on relief and live on footpaths and camps. No Government with human heart at Centre or in the erstwhile State worked to settle their problem by ensuring their permanent rehabilitation in Valley during last over three decades, they added.
Terming the issuance of order by JPDCL as totally draconian in nature the Committee representatives said that how can the migrants getting a meager relief of 10 to 12 thousand and living a hand to mouth life can afford to pay power tariff.
They said the Government instead of settling their problems is harassing the community through draconian orders day in and day out.
The Committee representatives said that in case the order will not be withdrawn within days the migrants will be constrained to take a march to Lal Chowk Srinagar along with their families and prior to that will hold protests in all camps and other places in Jammu.
The Committee however made an appeal to LG, Manoj Sinha seeking his immediate intervention in the matter.
Meanwhile, Women Wing of AIMCCC in a meeting at Jagti also took serious exception of PDD Department for asking migrants to pay power tariff. They said that KPs have suffered a lot due to turmoil and if Government will not withdraw the order they will march to Delhi and hold protest.
