JAMMU, June 11: PHE Employees Association (PHEEA), Jammu Province today criticized the State Government for not releasing their pending wages.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of State president, Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), Shiv Kumar Sharma, who is also the provincial president of PHEEA, Jammu Province.
The speakers lambasted the authorities for not releasing the wages of daily wagers for last many months. “The daily wagers are suffering severe financial hardships in the absence of salary, while the authorities are doing nothing except giving assurances”, they said.
It was also demanded in the meeting to regularize all daily wagers/CP workers/adhoc workers, meet shortage of staff in the department, hold DPC meeting as early as possible, change in designation of workers as per nature of working and enhancement of daily wages from Rs 150 to Rs 350.
Addressing the meeting, Sharma urged the Government for early release of pending wages of PHE workers. He also urged the Government to enhance medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 1000, make provision to release the wages regularly by first week of every month, frame policy for regularization of services of daily wagers, and create technical posts from top to bottom to remove stagnation.
“It is stunning to note that the arrears of 17% DA have not been released in favour of PHE employees whereas many other departments have already released the said arrears”, they added.
The other demands raised were extending of 6% DA in favour of State Government employees, as was recently paid to the Central Government employees and provision of tool kits to mechanical staff to perform their duties more efficiently.
