SAMBA, Feb 27: Water Workers (PHE) Employees Association Samba Division held protest demonstration in support of pending demands of the CP workers and other consolidated employees.
Surinder Singh Samyal, president of the Association was leading the protest. A large number of CP workers and other employees assembled at the Divisional office of the PHE at Samba today and started protest demonstration. They were shouting slogans in support of their employees. They demanded their last two years’ wages pending with the department.
They were also demanding regularisation of these temporary workers.  Mr Samyal pointed out that CP workers are running most of the water supply schemes but they are not being paid their wages regularly. It is very difficult for them to run their livelihood under such circumstances.
He further said that many tube wells, pumping stations and chowkidar quarters are in bad shape. They need immediate repair. There are no tools, benches, chairs or torches issued to these poor workers. The Association leader also demanded release of 17 % DA in favour of Government employees without any delay.
Later, the agitating employees met the DC and the Executive Engineer Samba and projected their demands. The other members of the delegation included Babu Ram,  Daulat Ram, Roop Chand, Prem Singh, Bodh Raj and Om Parkash.
