JAMMU, Dec 4: Demanding  issuance of SRO for their regularization, a massive protest rally was taken out by members of All J&K PHE ITI Trained and CP Workers Association, here today. Click here to watch video
The workers raised slogans against the Government for lodging their protest against delay in issuance of the required SRO for their regularization and also threatened indefinite strike if their issue is not addressed.
The protest rally was taken out from Press Club Jammu where a large number of PHE workers assembled and then marched towards Civil Secretariat in the form of a procession. However, Police did not allow them to proceed further from Indira Chowk, where they were diverted towards Chief Engineer’s office where they  submitted a  memorandum of demands to the Chief Engineer.
While addressing the gathering,  Tanveer Hussain, president of All J&K PHE ITl Trained and CP Workers Association, said that  they were  struggling from the last more than seven years for regularization and the Government  had been assuring them necessary action but these assurances have turned out to be mere lip service. “The PHE workers have been again assured by the present PDP-BJP Government, which approved a roadmap for regularization of Casual, Seasonal Laborers, and DRWs etc. However,  it is almost more than one and half month  since Cabinet approval of the roadmap but  the SRO has not been issued so far,”  he said and alleged that the Government seems to be following delaying tactics like previous regimes.
Tanveer Hussain warned that if the Government does not issue the regularization SRO till forthcoming Budget Session, the Association would launch a vigorous agitation.
Among those , who addressed the protest rally included  Deepak Gupta, Subash Chander, Bhandu Partap, Manjeet Singh, Vijay Kumar, Jeevan Singh , Pawan Kumar , Tilak Raj, Altaf Hussain and  others.
