JAMMU, Aug 20: PHE workers including ITI trained and CP workers held protest demonstration at BC Road office complex in support of their long pending demands here today.
A large number of PHE workers under the banner of Water Works (PHE) Employees Association led by INTUC president Shiv Kumar Sharma and the other group of All J&K PHE, ITI Trained and CP Workers Association led by Tanveer Hussain, provincial president, assembled in the PHE complex today and started protest demonstration. They were demanding that all the pending demands of the workers be addressed without any more delay.
The Union leaders strongly criticized the higher authorities in the department for causing unnecessary delay in addressing the long pending demands of the workers. They said that Minister concerned is also non-serious in resolving the issues despite the fact that all the issues were discussed at length with him.
They warned to intensify their struggle in case the department fails to resolve their pending issues. They are demanding regularisation of temporary/ daily wage/ ITI trained and other CP workers, enhancement of their wages, release of wages in time and clearing of all the pending wages of the workers.
Shiv Kumar Sharma warned the officers to stop pick and choose policy while releasing wages of the workers, release all the pending wages of workers of 35 to 40 months, sanction special funds for sick and ailing workers, prepare division wise seniority list, regularize all workers who have completed 7 years in service and implement 7th Pay Commission report.
Tanveer Hussain and Deepak Gupta appealed the Chief Minister to take a final decision regarding regularization of over 61000 identified workers. They also demanded release of pending wages of the workers.
