UDHAMPUR, Oct 21: Water Works (PHE) Employees’ Association today staged a protest demonstration at PHE complex, Udhampur and demanded the authorities to release the wages of the daily wagers and others employees of the Department pending since 2014.
A large number of daily wagers and members of the Association participated in the protest which was led by Som Nath, district president and senior vice-president, Jammu province. They criticized the dilly dallying tactics of the Government in releasing pending wages of the employees.
Raising slogans against the Government and concerned authorities, they criticized the Government for diverting the attention of the employees from the main issues by filling up new performa every day which is unnecessary harassment of the employees.
The protesting employees demanded the Government to release wages of the employees pending since 2014 to till date before Diwali. They demanded that wages should be released at the rate of Rs 150 per day firstly and then at the rate of Rs 225 per day.
Besides this, Som Nath demanded meeting shortage of staff in the department, holding DPC meeting as early as possible, change of designation of workers as per nature of working and regularization of CP/ITI/Land cases workers.
He said that several cases of SRO-43 are pending in Jammu Division and for last 5 years the concerned authorities have been protecting their skin by saying that there is no vacancy and at the same time engaged many non-eligible candidates through back door entries. Som Nath also demanded that attendance of un-paid workers be made biometric.
