KATHUA, Aug 7: PHE workers today held a mass protest in support of their long pending demands at PHE Complex, here today.
Hundreds of workers under the banner of PHE Workers Welfare Association (PHEWWA) gathered here at PHE Complex and raised slogans against the State Government for its callous approach towards the demands of the PHE workers.
While addressing the gathering, general secretary of the Association, Subhash Verma criticized the Government decision regarding direct recruitment on vacant posts lying in the department, saying this cannot be tolerated till the daily wagers of the department are regularized.
Reiterating other demands of the Association including release of all sorts of daily wages at the rate of Rs 150 per day, release of wages before the 5th of every month, regularization of daily rated workers both of ITI and non-ITI on the pattern of ReT teachers, clearing of backlog wages of workers and holding of DPC to fill up the vacant posts, Verma said that if their demands are not fulfilled soon, they will be left with no other option then starting Kaam Choro Hartal in the whole province throughout the Jammu region.
Later, the protestors, took out a protest procession through the main bazaars of the Kathua which concluded at the office of Deputy Commissioner Kathua with submission of a Memorandum of Demands (MoD) to DC Kathua.
