PHE workers protest, demand regularization, pending wages

JAMMU, Apr 22: The daily rated, consolidated and other employees and workers, under the banner of PHE Employees United Front of Jal Shakti Department held strong protest demonstration at BC Road complex of the department here today.
The protest was held in support of the demands of regularization of daily rated/ consolidated and ITI trained workers and release of their pending wages of over 65 months. They demanded that a definite policy be framed by the Government for their regularization.
A large number of PHE daily wagers from various parts of district Jammu besides other districts in the region, assembled outside the office of Chief Engineer, PHE at BC Road Complex, near Bus Stand here during the day and started massive protest demonstration. Kartar Chand Dubey, Subash Verma, Balbadhar Raj and several other senior members of the PHE United Front were leading the protest.
The protesting workers were raising slogans in support of their demands. They also shouted loud slogans against BJP Govt and the J&K UT administration. They alleged that despite assurance by the top BJP leaders, their issues remained unresolved.
Several senior trade unionists addressed the gathering and alleged that LG’s Administration has also failed to solve their issues. They said LG had also assured to settle their issues in presence of BJP MP and the party president in J&K recently, but the time frame given to the United Front has also lapsed. They said families of daily wagers are facing starvation but the Govt is unmoved.
They alleged that many workers are not paid their wages of over 60-65 months. The Government is not taking any final decision about their fate. They offered full support to the on going strike of daily wage workers and warned to intensify struggle. Senior members Ravi Kumar, Darshan Kumar, Raju Jamwal and Ajay Sharma also addressed the gathering.
