KATHUA, Feb 11: PHE Workers Welfare Association, Division Kathua today held a meeting as well as protest demonstration in the premises of Executive Engineer, PHE, Division Kathua, in support of their demands.
The protest was held under the joint leadership of president of the Association, Kathua Unit, Joginder Kumar Sharma and Chairman, Baldev Singh.
Hundreds of PHE employees including field operational staff and daily wagers joined the protest demonstration. The annoyed PHE workers raised slogans against Executive Engineer, PHE Division Kathua, alleging that he deliberately failed to disburse the wages of poor daily wagers.
Addressing the protestors, Joginder Kumar Sharma said that the Association has submitted a charter of their demands, which included implementation of transfer policy, holding of DPC at divisional level, regularization of daily wagers, maintenance of seniority list, disbursement of salary before 5th of every month, repairing of pumping stations and issuing of other equipments like gum boots, torches, etc to the field staff, to the Executive Engineer, PHE Civil/Mechanical, Division Kathua and SE Hyd Circle Kathua.
He urged the concerned authority to solve the problems of the workers at the earliest. If the demands are not considered within one week, the Association have to choose the path of agitation, he warned.
