JAMMU, May 29: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sukhnandan Kumar today shifted a Junior Engineer of the department for dereliction of duty.
The Minister directed the Chief Engineer, PHE to shift the JE, Shakti Nagar Krishan Lal Sharma after the residents of the area complained to him about erratic supply of portable water to the locality.
A deputation of Shivnagar area of Rajpura, Shakti Nagar, Jammu had called on the PHE Minister to apprise him about the problem they are facing due to inadequate supply of water in the prevailing hot conditions.
The deputation members told the Minister that despite repeated pleas, the concerned officials have done nothing to restore water supply to the area.
On their complaint, the Minister asked the Chief Engineer to replace the JE of the area and appoint another one. He also directed for taking concerted measures to maintain adequate supply of water to all city localities so that people may not face any problem in the summer season.
While interacting with the deputation members, the Minister said that the Government is committed to provide safe drinking water to the people across the State. He asked the people to come forward and inform him if they find any laxity on the part of the departmental functionaries.
Chief Engineer PHE, Prem Kumar and other senior functionaries of PHE Department were present on the occasion.
