UDHAMPUR, Dec 14: PHE employees from Udhampur Division held strong protest in support of their demands at PHE complex here today.
The employees and other temporary workers from Udhampur, Tikri, Pancheri, Chenani, Kud, Majalta, Mansar and Ramnagar areas, under the leadership of Som Nath, INTUC District president for Udhampur and senior vice president of PHE Employees Association Jammu province, assembled at main PHE complex at district headquarters here and started protesting. The workers condemned the State Government for its anti-worker policies and non-release of pending wages of many workers. The protest rally was held under the banner of Water Works (PHE) Employees Association.
Som Nath and several other speakers addressed the large rally and urged upon the higher authorities to mitigate the sufferings of the working class. The INTUC leader strongly demanded release of pending wages for the last 37 months of the PHE workers, regularisation of temporary/ ITI/ casual/ CP workers, revision of sanctioned strength of the department , implementation of Minimum Wages Act, address the issue of shortage of staff, ensure promotion of Assistant Linemen and Assistant Motormen, conduct DPC of all cadre, enhancement of wages of daily rated/ casual/CP workers and implement 7th Pay Commission report in the State.
The Association president, appealed all the members to gear up for united and long struggle if the Government fails to address their genuine and justified issues.
Prominent among others present included – Vijay Sharma, Rattan Singh, Suraj Parkash, Baldev Raj, Krishan Chand, Shiv Lal, Jagdish Magotra, Makhan Chand, Sanjay Sharma, Dinesh Kesar and Karan Singh.
