PHE drivers, cleaners protest, suspend tanker service

JAMMU, May 9: PHE Department Drivers, Cleaners Union Jammu province held a protest demonstration in front of  PHE Office Complex, BC road here today in support of the long pending demands of drivers and cleaners of the department.
The protestors raised slogans and criticized the departmental authorities who have adopted unlawful attitude over the issues projected by the Union. To intensify the agitation, the Union also suspended the tanker service.
Addressing the protestors the Union leaders alleged that the authorities at the helm of affairs have adopted anti workers and anti employees attitude. They said the authorities were deliberately lingering the demands and no body is ready to listen the problems of the employees.
They said despite approaching higher authorities to settle the long pending demands no thing was done in this regard so far. They warned that in case the issues were not resolved within two days the Union will go for indefinite strike and the authorities will be responsible for all consequences.
However, the SE Mechanical Sunil Gupta has assured the Union the demands will be settled. He also appealed the leadership to call off the strike and resume the tanker service, a Union handout issued here today said.
Prominent leaders who spoke included Mohan Singh, K C Dubey, Davinder Singh, Tilak Raj, Mohinder Singh, Kuldeep Raj, Naresh Kumar, Charanjit Singh and Sham Lal.
