JAMMU, Aug 26: Daily wagers, ITI and CP workers from PHE department held strong protest followed by dharna in front of Chief Engineer’s office at BC Road here today.
A large number of workers from various Divisions and Sub Divisions assembled at the PHE complex on BC Road here and started protest demonstration. These workers were shouting slogans in support of their demand of regularisation. They pointed out that many workers are going to be over aged and are working for the last ten to fifteen years but facing only exploitation.
These workers also raised slogans against Chief Minister, PHE and Finance Minister besides Chief Engineer. They alleged that many workers are without pay for the last many months and they are not paid their dues in time. The workers also demanded to streamline the system of their wages.
Several Trade Union leaders including Tanveer Hussain addressed the gathering and said that ten day ultimatum was given to the Government and now the PHE workers would launch hunger strike at the same venue. They said the Government has made mockery of its own promises made with the employees’ representatives.
Meanwhile, PHE daily wagers and CP workers took out protest march in Rajouri town in support of their demands. The workers started protest from main PHE office and then after passing through main bazaar culminated their protest at DC Office complex.
