JAMMU, June 5: Frustrated over frequent power cuts particularly during the night Post Graduate (PG) Doctors of Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu held a protest  tonight against Power Development Department in front of Hospital gate.
A large number PG doctors residing in Boys’ hostel of Medical College tonight assembled at Bakshi Nagar Chowk in front of College gate and raised slogans against PDD for frequent power cuts in the hostel.
The protesting doctors alleged that due to scheduled and unscheduled power cuts in the hostel, they are facing multiple problems and power cuts in the night have affected their study badly. They said for last four days, PDD has increased power cuts due to which they spent these four whole nights in dark that too when the mercury is touching 43 degree celsius.
They said such large scale power curtailment by the PDD has also affected water supply in the hostel and they have to bring water for their daily use from outside.
Criticizing College administration for ignoring their plight, the protesting doctors also raised slogans against them for not providing any alternate solution when they are very well familiar with their sufferings.
On the written assurance of the GMC Principal, the protesting doctors dispersed and lifted the blockade.
