PG Deptt JU clinches Kabaddi (Men) Inter-Collegiate title

JAMMU, Sept 19: The Post Graduate Department of the University of Jammu emerged as champions of the Inter-Collegiate Kabaddi (Men) Tournament 2025-26, organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
The much-awaited final, hosted at the Gymnasium Hall of the University, turned out to be a thrilling affair as top teams showcased high-octane performances, battling it out for the coveted championship.
Earlier in the day, the semi-final matches kept the spectators on edge with their close finishes. In the first semi-final, PG Department of JU overcame Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua by a margin of seven points, while MIET College edged past GDC Bhaderwah by just three points in the second semi-final. In the playoff for third place, GDC Kathua outclassed GDC Bhaderwah with a spirited display, thus securing a podium finish with the bronze medal.
In the summit clash, PG Department of JU demonstrated tactical supremacy and exceptional coordination to outplay MIET College by eight points, thereby lifting the championship trophy in style.
The Directorate of Sports and Physical Education presented the trophy and medals to the winner and runner-up teams amid loud cheers from the gathering.
Prominent faculty members and officials who graced the occasion included Dr Mandeep Singh, Dr Vimal Kishore, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Ravish Vaid, Vikas Karlopia, Gagan Kumar, Jai Bharat, Dr Inderjeet Singh, Dr Mahak, Harinderpal Singh, Richa Mandla, Rishiv Sharma and Angraiz Singh.
The technical panel for officiating the matches included Anil Sharma, Ajay Gupta, Dheeraj Sharma, Keshav Singh, Amandeep Singh, Raki Sharma and Gagan Kumar,
The entire tournament was held under the overall supervision of Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
