People’s Welfare Society delegation meets Minister, MD Cooperative Bank

SRINAGAR, June 7: A delegation of People’s Welfare Society Ganderbal called on MD State Cooperative Bank and other officers and demanded that Cooperative Bank in the State be given impetus for its overall growth and progress.
The delegation which was led by president of the Society Mir Ghulam Rasool Butwani demanded that the Bank at Butwani should be not winded up as decided by the authorities earlier. The delegation assured all cooperation from the people of area in promoting its business.
The delegation said that Government should try to strengthen the Cooperative Bank which is the first bank of the State on the pattern of J&K Bank. This will lead to bank’s progress and increase its business.
The leaders of Society also made an appeal to Cooperative Minister in this regard and sought his immediate intervention in the matter. The Society leaders said that all efforts are needed to strengthen the cooperative movement in the State as this will help in eradication of unemployment and poverty to a great extent.
The delegation also called on Horticulture Minister Basharat Bukhari and apprised him of the problems of fruit growers of Butwani. They demanded that the Government should control the harmful pesticides and insecticides which have ruined the fruit industry in the State.
