“Some people are saying that LG has arrived and that he will depart, but I want to tell them that I must indeed leave. However, I want to convey that I will depart, leaving behind such an example that people will remember me for ages, for the remarkable work I have accomplished,” he said.
Sinha said that he wants a better future for the youth of J&K. “With full force and honesty, the welfare of the people should be prioritized, ensuring a better future for the youth and enabling girls to breathe in free air. Efforts will be made for this,” he said.
The LG said that numerous dreams were shown by the politicians here and a group of conflict profiteers sprouted causing a great deal of destruction.
“Their homes, as well as the homes of those associated with them, were filled with wealth, but the light in several homes dimmed. The aspirations of a few individuals gained new momentum, with their children studying abroad and receiving medical treatment overseas,” he said.
Sinha said that the priority of the administration here is to resolve the grievances of the common man.
“Today, these select conflict profiteers are experiencing pain, and I wish for their suffering to intensify. The priority of the Jammu and Kashmir Government is the common man and whatever his grievances will be, I want to tell you with full responsibility that his issue will be resolved with utmost honesty, delicacy and dedication. We do not believe in spreading hatred among brothers on religious lines,” he said.
“We have made a decision regarding the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, as numerous people from both the Jammu and Kashmir regions approached us, claiming eligibility for the scheme but lacking land ownership. Consequently, we decided that individuals who are eligible for the scheme but do not possess land will be provided with land by the government. This decision has also stirred some political discussions, which I find perplexing,” he said.
The LG said that no outsider has been provided land in J&K but the land has been given to the landless locals.
“Recently, a conference on good governance was held, attended by members of the District Development Councils (DDCs), Block Development Councils (BDCs), and Sarpanchs from all the districts of Kashmir. During this conference, I inquired whether any outsiders had received residences in their respective areas to which all of them replied in unison that no one had received it. It is important to understand who these people are. Giving land to the poor pains you and people moving around you would grab the state land and you would say development is happening. I think this arrangement ended in Jammu and Kashmir on 5th August 2019 and such things would not be applicable here if people would decide against it,” he added.
About this year’s Amarnath Yatra, Sinha said that this year a record number of over 4.5 lakh pilgrims visited the holy cave shrine of Baba Amarnathji. “Now these people have gone back to their respective states and villages. They will surely spread a word about the peaceful atmosphere in Kashmir which ultimately will push more pilgrims into J&K,” he said.
To a query whether preparations were on for Local Bodies elections, the LG said polls for them will be held in time.
He said that Budgam has a great tourism potential and will become favourite destination of tourists. “Budgam has an airport, railway station and a great tourism potential which needs to be explored. Beerwah will come on tourism map shortly and become favourite destination of tourists,” the LG said, adding Green Parks are coming up in the district while the administration will upgrade the airport, old bus stand and railway station as well.
“I am hopeful that planned infrastructure development projects and amenities for sustainable living by Budgam District Administration will create healthy competition amongst cities of Jammu Kashmir and encourage public and ULBs to improve infrastructure and make the urban spaces beautiful and inclusive,” the LG said.
“The initiative for beautification of Budgam town will boost rapid development of economy, strengthen its ecology and ensure ease of living. These projects are reflective of vibrancy and resolve of the district,” he added.
Sinha said that India is moving ahead with new thinking and new resolve. “We have touched the moon. Now, we should set big goals. Now, we should work with new speed and scale and dedicate ourselves in building a progressive society and realize the vision of Smart Cities, Smart Towns and Smart Villages,” he said.
“The theme of G20, as explained by our Prime Minister yesterday, centres on the well-being of our global community. When any of our scientific endeavours reaches their pinnacle, it is not just a victory for our nation but a contribution to humanity at large. This includes our COVID-19 vaccines, which have been shared with approximately 120 nations,” he said.
Nazir Ahmad Khan, Chairman, District Development Council, Budgam expressed gratitude to the Lt Governor led UT administration for taking development to the grassroots level.
