KATHUA, Aug 23: Continuing its campaign against the highly polluted Red Category Industry going to be set up on Industrial Estate adjoining the residential area, the inhabitants of Kathua took out a candle march against the move.
A large number of people including the men, women and children assembled at Hatli Morh and sat on dharna. They later took out a candle march against the Government decision. They raised the slogans against District Industries Kathua, Pollution Control Board (PCB) and associate departments responsible for the setting up of Klinker Unit in the area.
The children and women carrying the poster with slogans to stop polluted Industry, Save Environment, Save Human Lives and appealed to Deputy Commissioner, Dr Raghav Langer to take action in the matter. While addressing the protestors a woman activist, Ranjana Devi said that the people of Kathua in large number are joining the campaign against pollution. The Red Category Industry needed to establish in non populated area. But some vested interest in the Department did not follow the latest guidelines of Environment savoir. Even the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi committed in Geneva summit to decline the pollution level from India.
She appealed the Governor of State, Satya Pal Malik to take necessary action to save human lives, save environment and save next generation. “We are forced to come on the road and take out candle march ”. A youth Rajesh Mehta said that this candle march will awake the Government departments and Industrialist who are adamant to run the red category industry. Despite the negative report in two public hearings , why they want to run the unit, he asked? .He said the dharna protest will continue till the fulfillment of their demands.
