People stuck in lift at Bahu Plaza shopping complex

JAMMU, June 24: Around one-dozen people got trapped today in an elevator in Bahu Plaza Shopping complex.
According to the reports, some people were trapped in an elevator at South Block of Bahu Plaza Shopping complex at about 2 PM today when the elevator suddenly stopped functioning midway. People trapped in the lift raised hue and cry after which a large number of people gathered there and called the handlers of elevator.
Meanwhile, a police team also reached the spot and controlled the crowd. The lift operators/technicians took around 10 minutes to evacuate the trapped people, who were completely safe.
“There were around 11 people trapped in the lift,” a police official said, adding they were rescued within 20 minutes by the lift technicians. Quoting lift technicians, the police official said that the lift had stopped functioning midway due to overloading.
