People reposing faith in SAD on development, peace, communal harmony issues: Sukhbir Badal

AMRISTAR, Feb 4: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal today said reports received by him from all over the state indicated Punjabis were reposing faith in the SAD-BJP alliance on the twin issues of development as well as peace and communal harmony.

Talking to reporters after casting his vote along with Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Union Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal here, the SAD president said, “People understand development is the only way the state can move forward and jobs can be created.

We have a proven track record of creating jobs and have also spelled out a road map for the next five years during the course of which we want to create 20 lakh jobs.”

Stating that the people would reject AAP, he said AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal’s alignment with radical elements had already led to disturbances in the state and Pubjabis did not want the state to be pushed back to turbulent times.

Mr Badal said people had also understood that sacrileges started in Punjab after AAP entered the state. “This turnaround against AAP has flustered Mr Kejriwal and he is already sounding like a loser,” he added.

Speaking about the Congress, he said even the Congress voter was confused about the party. “The party is riven by dissensions and has neither any past performance to showcase nor any future agenda to convince the voters to side with it.”

Immediately after casting his vote, the SAD president set off for his horse farm adjacent to his house. “I like it best to be with animals,” he said while asking for his colts and mares to be brought out. Among his pets include dogs, parrots, a macaw and even a recently acquired kitten.

Speaking about his campaign, Mr Badal, “I am completely satisfied. We ran a positive and pro-people campaign. I am also overwhelmed by the support extended to the campaign by the Akali cadre. Our cadre is completely charged up. This is a sure sign that we are winning,” he added.  (UNI)
