RAJOURI, Aug 11: Family members and relatives besides locals from Daraj village held protest dharna on Rajouri-Budhal road along with the dead body of Vikramjit Singh alias Vicky, who allegedly died in gun-shot incident at Daraj village yesterday.
Vicky was scheduled to be married last evening at Tuli Bana village in same area. He allegedly used his father’s .12 bore gun and committed suicide. He died while being shifted to GMC Hospital, Jammu last evening.
Today at around 9 am the people from Daraj village, relatives and family members of the deceased placed his dead body on the road at Daraj and started protest dharna. They alleged that family members of girl and Sarpanch had threatened to Vicky and were forcing him for the marriage with that girl. Vicky was not prepared for the marriage with the girl. His father and brother had died in accident hardly 6 months back. They alleged that Vicky was forced to commit suicide by Sarpanch and girl’s relatives.
Irate public raised barricades on the road and disrupted movement of traffic on Budhal road for over five hours. Later, SHO Budhal reached the spot and assured them to properly investigate the case and punish the guilty if found involved. Later, they lifted dharna and performed the last rites of boy’s dead body. The police said that it has started inquest proceedings under section 174 CrPC.
