RAJOURI, Mar 7: The people from Tandwal village and adjoining areas near Tandi Kassi, today held strong protest against SKUAST-Jammu authorities and blocked Jammu-Poonch highway near here this afternoon.
The people were protesting against the closer of their old passage through Krishi Vigyan Kendra complex of the SKUAST -Jammu authorities. The people alleged that KVK authorities have raised gate and they have stopped the old passage of the villagers.
The SKUAST authorities however, claimed that the land has been purchased by them and also has paid compensation in full. Now, land belonged to them and they will not allow it to become public passage. The villagers raised barricades on the road and stalled the movement of traffic for over an hour from 2 pm to 3.10 pm.
Later, Tehsildar Rajouri Salam Din and SI Nassir Ahmed ( I/C Police Post) reached there. They assured the people to take up the matter with the DC and Vice Chancellor of the University. The protesting people then lifted dharna.
