Excelsior Correspondent
RAJOURI, June 17: Residents of village Tatapani in Kalakote area today held a protest over non-supply of drinking water for last ten days and demanded the authorities to restore water supply in the area without any delay.
Scores of youth and women of the village led by executive member of All J&K Youth Federation (AJKYF), SS Khajuria, assembled on village road and staged protest with empty utensils. They raised slogans against the PHE Department for their failure to restore water supply in the village even after passing of 10 days.
Expressing his concern over the crisis of drinking water in the village due to mechanical defect in the water pump, Khajuria urged upon the PHE Department and the State Government to ensure adequate supply of water in Village Tatapani.
Khajuria further added that for last ten days there is no water supply in the area due to mechanical problem in the water pump which has not been repaired by the PHE Department even after making written as well as verbal representations and requests to the PHE
Department.
He said non-supply of drinking water is affecting around 700-800 souls in the village Tatapani because of which locals are suffering a lot in these scorching hot days. As the Village Tatapani is not having any single hand-pump in the locality, the people are forced to use Hot Spring water which cannot be used for drinking purpose.
