JAMMU, July 22: The residents of Old Rehari and adjoining areas staged a protest against the Department of Public Health Engineering (PHE) over non-availability of drinking water in the area.
The protesters including women and children blocked the road for hours due to which traffic movement was disrupted.
The protesters were demanding restoration of the water supply in the area which is blocked for several weeks.
“We have no drinking water for past several weeks. The department has turned a blind eye towards the problems being faced by people due to non-availability of drinking water”, a protester told reporters.
Later a police team reached the spot and assured the protesters to take up the issue with the concerned authorities for early redressal.
On the assurance, the protesters dispersed and vehicular movement was restored.
