People protest, lock 7 PHE employees for 3 hrs

MENDHAR, May 6: The people held strong protest demonstration against PHE Department and its Mechanical Engineering staff and also locked seven employees at pumping station Bera for about three hours.
The people of the area who are suffering for want of drinking water for the last over one month, today came out on the road and started protest demonstration. They were raising slogans against PHE and its Mech wing staff. They alleged that Bera pumping station went out of order one month back but despite repeated request to the field staff, JE and even the AEE concerned, the water supply was not restored. Even the AEE or AE did not bother to visit to the station.
As the protest was going on the senior Sub Division Officer of PHE sent some daily wagers and other staff to talk to the people. The villagers got agitated and inquired about AEE, AE and the JE concerned. Then they locked seven employees and continued their protest against PHE Minister, Chief Engineer, Executive Engineer and AEE concerned.
Later, SDPO Mendhar Surinder Choudhary after coming to know about the matter reached there and rescued all the seven daily wager and consolidated employees locked by public. He also spoke to the Executive Engineer concerned on phone who assured that water supply will be restored within a day or two. The public then suspended agitation.
Those detained inside pumping station were identified as Ghulam Ahmed, Mohd Hanief, Mohd Hanief-II, Zaheer Abbas, Shafat Ahmed, Mohd Amin and Mohd Mahroof.
