KATHUA, Dec 1: The poor people and small farmers drawn from various villages of Kathua district took out protest march on College Road and later held a dharna in front of DC Office Complex here, today.

The protest was led by BSP, State president, Som Raj followed by numbers of poor peoples including the women in large numbers who were raising slogans against BJP Government and in favour of their demands. They also submitted a memorandum of demands addressed to PM Narendra Modi and LG of J&K.
While addressing, Som Raj criticized the BJP Government for snatching the livelihood of poor people who are cultivating the State land since decades. He said that poor people and poor farmers have no other sources of income except cultivation of State land. He said these people are being harassed by administration who issued the notice to State land owners whereas in some places Revenue Department has pasted the notice on notice board also.
He said under such circumstances hundreds of the poor people will become homeless and landless. He has warned the Government to stop the State land vacating process and don’t harass the poor people otherwise mass scale agitation on the pattern Punjab Kissan agitation would be launched and Government would be responsible for that. They blocked the DC office road for half an hour.
