KATHUA, Mar 20: The irate relatives of Radha ,wife of Rohit Singh of Ward 13 Hiranagar whose body was found hanging with a ceiling fan at her in-laws house yesterday morning, today protested along with hundreds of people at Hirnagar Chowk with the dead body and blocked Jammu-Pathankot National Highway for over four hours demanding a thorough probe into the incident and registration of a case against the people responsible for her death.
The irate crowd including a sizable number of women squatted on the highway and did not allow any vehicle to pass. Shouting slogans they demanded justice for late house wife and her parents. They demanded action against the people responsible for her death and registration of a criminal case against them. There was a huge traffic jam on the highway from Samba to Rajbagh
The protesters did not budge with the intervention of local police and warned to continue the highway blockade. Later the SHO Hiranagar, Naveen Angral, SDPO, Hiranagar, Diwakar Singh and ASP Kathua, Khaleel Poswal visited the spot and pacified the protestors.
They assured the people that police will investigate the matter to their satisfaction. They also asked the people to come with the evidence they possess about the case and help police in investigation. This pacified the protestors and they lifted the road blockade. Later the parents took the dead body for cremation.
It may be recalled that police has registered a case under Section 174 yesterday after recovering dead body from the in-laws house.
