People protest girl’s kidnapping, block road

RAJOURI, July 13:  The people from Androla and adjoining areas came out on the road and disrupted movement of traffic for about two hours near Kallar on Rajouri-Jammu highway today in protest against the indifferent attitude of police in connection with kidnapping of a girl by a local boy from other community.
The people from the village including family members and relatives of the kidnapped girl Seema (name changed), daughter of Gian Chand, came out on the road and raised barricades. The agitating people were shouting slogans against Rajouri police.
They alleged that the girl was kidnapped by one Israr Majid, son of Mohd Rashid of the same area about ten days back. The police was inactive and not taking any interest in the recovery of the girl. They termed it as conspiracy and warned big agitation if the girl was not recovered with in three days. Senior police officials moved to the area and assured the agitating public that girl will be traced with in three days. Later, the agitating people lifted dharna from the road.
A large number of vehicles remained stranded on both side of this busy Jammu-Poonch highway due to dharna of the public.
