KATHUA. Apr 18: The residents of Kathua held a protest demonstration against the Food and Civil Supply and Consumer Affairs Department for alleged bungling of ration .
The protesters blocked the Shaheedi Chowk Kathua for more than one hour and there was a huge traffic jam on the road . The protesters drawn from all wards of the Kathua town including the women in large numbers were raising the slogans against the Department .
A protester Avinash Kalotra alleged that large scale bungling in ration supply is seen in ration depots by the dealers. The consumers are not given the ration as per scale, the rate is higher than approved rate , there is no rate list displayed at depot and mere fifty percent consumers are given the ration and remaining ration is sold out in black.
They also demanded to set up Vigilance Committees on every ration sale depot . The SHO Kathua and TSO FCS&CAD reached on the spot and assured the protesters to solve their problems. They also torched the effigy of the concerned Minister.
The protesters alleged they have been facing the problem for months together with administration turning a blind eye.
